Learning Objectives:
Module Summary:
On completion of the module students will be able to:
a) Be familiar with contemporary debates on sex work, sexual and emotional labour, trafficking, sex tourism.
b) Relate different approaches and debates of the sex industry to sociological questions concerning structure and agency,
and the articulation of gender, race and class and globalisatioin.
c) Demonstrate an ability to apply learning to critically comment on aspects of the sex industry.
d) Develop clear writing and communication skills
e) Experience of working with and evaluating different sources of information (such as media reports, research and reports
from Non-Governmental Organisation, academic research)
f) Work independently and be able to produce work with critical insights with a short time frame.

Learning Outcomes:
On completion of the module the students should be able to:
1. Present complex sociological knowledge and debates in a clear and concise way both orally and in writing to tight deadlines.
2. Show ability to critically analyse theory and concepts both verbally and in writing
3. Research, critically analyse and reflect upon sociological texts and other studies in relation to race, gender and sexuality
4. Assess academic and non-academic evidence through appropriate secondary data investigation
5. Make connections between theory and practice or concepts and examples
6. Form teams and work collaboratively to discuss sociological problems
