MT 2800V - Linear Algebra II
Associated Term: 2022/23 Academic Session
Learning Objectives:
This module continues the study of vector spaces and linear transformations begun in MT1820 Prerequisites: MT1820 Learning Outcomes: By the end of the module, the student will understand linear maps and their matrix representations, as well as associated concepts such as change of bases, and the rank and nullity of a linear map and the connection between them. The student will also be able to demonstrate an understanding of a variety of methods and topics in linear algebra such as diagonalisation, orthonormal bases, Gram-Schmidt orthogonalisation procedure

Technical Requirements: The total number of notional learning hours associated with course are 150. These will normally be broken down as follows: 30 hour(s) of Lecture(s) across 1 week(s) 120 hours of Guided Independent Study, including work on problem sheets and examination preparation. This may include discussions with the course leader if the student wishes. Formative Assessment & Feedback: Formative assignments in the form of 8 problem sheets. The students will receive feedback as written comments on their attempts. Summative Assessment: Coursework, 8 problem sets 15% 16 Hours Online quizzes 15% 4 Hours Group work, 8 one-hour sessions 10% 8 Hours Examination 60% 2 Hours
