Learning Objectives:
Content will include the following topics: (i) Why modern psychology requires an understanding of neuroscience; (ii) neuronal structure, function and information transmission; (iii) the organisation of the nervous system and how this reflects some principles of information processing; (iv) methods used to study structure and information processing in the brain; (v) functional architectures in the brain; (vi) the neural basis of learning; (vii) brain evolution; (viii) the biology and psychopharmacology of reward, reinforcement and psychological disorders.

Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the module students should be able to:
1. Develop an understanding of links between structure and function in the nervous system
2. Understand the methods used to study such relationships
3. Understand the conceptual and historical issues underlying cognitive psychology (e.g. psychology as a science, conceptual and historical paradigms and models).
