Learning Objectives:
This course aims to provide an overall account of some of the main theoretical and empirical issues in key areas within cognitive psychology. It covers a wide range of topics, including: selective attention,, problem solving, reasoning, judgement, blindsight, unilateral neglect, social attention , word recognition, and cognitive psychology of sleep.

Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the module students should be able to:
1. Develop an understanding of major theoretical approaches within cognitive psychology
2. Develop knowledge of empirical research relating to major theoretical approaches in key areas
3. Develop the ability to evaluate both theory and research in cognitive psychology in a critical fashion.
4. Understand the conceptual and historical issues underlying cognitive psychology (e.g. psychology as a science, conceptual and historical paradigms and models).
